No market tomorrow (insert sad face)

Hello everyone, I'm very sorry to start the day with bad news. Unfortunatley due to illness I won't be able to attend the Brizvegas Kustom Karnival tomorrow . It's a pretty big bummer and I've had to let a friend down because of it. I haaaaate doing that. I'm working to get my migraines under control so I can re-open my online store and get some Sailor Mouth Soap love back into the hot little hands of my customers. Please bare with me while I try to get my health sorted out. I've been letting it get progressively worse for many years now. It's time to get it sorted! Thanks for understanding. xx

I love being closer to nature

At risk of boring the pants off all of you, I'm doing another house related post :D Having moved from a main road in a fairly industrial area to a a quiet suburban bush land setting on a huge block, I'm enjoying indulging myself with watching one of my favorite animals, birds! Here are some of the more breathtaking birds we have in our yard each day. Rainbow Lorikeet Little Corella Galah Laughing Kookaburra Sulfur Crested Cockatoo Willie Wagtail We're also visited a lot by Noisy Miners, Crows, Magpies and Doves to name a few. It's bliss. On a funny side note, I just heard some commotion under my window and caught 4 Crows sneaking around the garden and stealing the ripe cherry tomatoes we had (had!) growing, LOL.

House update

Image
Hi everyone! I'll keep it brief because I'm too excited and manic to focus on any one thing for too long right now....our new house settles today and we can begin to move in! Hurrah! We've been at this for nearly 2 months, it's been the most exhausting and frustrating experience of my life. There were so many times I thought we would lose the house because of some issue with the banks and other people involved. One of my soap making friends went through a similar thing, only her journey into the perfect home took over a year. I would have died. Major props to Kylee Lane. That girl has staying power :D The severe weather warning with flash flooding issues isn't even concerning me right now. After all of the stress, a little water is the least of my worries. I'll keep you all posted on when I should be back and the stores open again. I really want to get into the soap room asap and start making some of the things I've had in the works since June but h...

We're moving! So we're closing early for Christmas

That's right, I know I've been saying that Aussie order cut off is from the 11th December but now I've had to push it back to Saturday the 8th as we've bought a new house and need to start packing asap. What a crazy time of year to do it but we found the perfect house so it is what it is :D At this stage I'm not sure when I'll be back in January, there sure is a lot to do when buying & moving into a new house so I'm not going to lock myself into a time frame I can't keep up with. Thanks for understanding! And remember, please submit any final orders by Saturday 8th December or you will miss out. Thanks!!!!

Glenorchy, Heli Rafting & Forest Wanderings

Image
Hi everyone! We got up to a few things over the weekend. First was a drive out to Glenorchy, a tiny little town on the northern end of Lake Wakatipu (the lake is massive, 291km square & up to 420m deep!) We stopped for brunch and as we've come to expect in many of the small towns we've visited, the only non-meat food available was chips. I used to like chips but now I'm not sure I can look a potato in the eye ever again. This was an old boat shed by (what appeared to be) the one and only dock in the town. You can't tell by the half-smile, but I totally dig nature walks <3 Check out these weird dead trees all lined up.  The trees look amazing against the perfect sky. Bad weather had been forecast almost the entire holiday but aside from one rainy night, it hasn't affected us at all. Lucky huh! Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get out and explore like we have. This was taken on the dock. I wanted to get th...

Guess what? It's COLD! Who would've thought?

Just another quick update for today, we're about to head out for Brad to go Heli-Rafting! What's that you ask? Well, you take a helicopter up to the top of a mountain and then raft down. OMGs.... Anyhooo; Down by the lake, there are lots of cute sculptures. These are our friend's little ones, hugging each other while hugging a giant Kiwi. Cuuuute. How nice is the lake first thing in the morning? I love it. We took a ride on the Skyline Gondola. It goes straight up the mountain...amazing views. Up the top, it had been snowing! Looks like we just missed it, the picnic tables had fresh, powdery snow. It was about 0 degrees.  Everything is so scenic, I love the mountains. Lookit! SNOW! This is the view from the top of the Gondola lookout. On the way back down again, you get a feel for how high up you are. Eeek! Strangely enough, heights don't bother me too much. That has to be one of the few things I'm...

Holiday cont.

Hi everyone! Just a quick update today.... It was a beautiful drive on the way to Arrowtown. What we liked most about the town was the walk through the historic Chinese Settlement from the Gold Rush era. It was fascinating to see how small yet sturdy and well built the huts were. Check out the view from Arrowtown Cemetery. This was the oldest part, some of the graves were from the 1800's. Next stop was the Onsen Hot Pools. This lived up to the hype! The ceiling and walls fold up so you can get the fresh mountain air...it was super fresh. When you got too hot, you could add cold water which came down from the roof. It was about 9 degrees and splashed right into the hot pools. It's cold on your head, let me tell you :P Checking out the view... This is Lake Hayes. The wind coming off the lake was almost enough to knock you over and our face was numb after 5 minutes, LOL. A beautiful 3 legged dog came running over after I took this photo with a stic...

The getaway so far

Queenstown is AWESOME! Our flight coming in was a little delayed  but that was ok, it gave us more time to catch up with the friend's we're traveling with. The flight was good, the seats weren't that comfy but the landing was smooth, gotta love that. Flying isn't my favorite thing in the world :P Once we landed, we went through the duty free store and holy moley, the booze was cheap! We picked up a 1lt bottle of Gin (Bombay Sapphire) for only $25! Yeeeehar. We later saw it in town for over $75. What a bargain. After we the checked into the hotel, we went for a wander around town. It's so pretty here, everything is beautiful. Lake Wakatipu is stunning, as you can see below. It stays light for so long here, I was able to snap this shot in the very late afternoon. After an insanely long wait to book in ski passes for the next day (their computers were down for almost an hour), we decided a curry was in order.  Luckily there was a tasty Indian place rather close...

New Zealand here we come!

Image
My fiance and I are taking our first holiday in years very shortly,  to beautiful New Zealand. Neither of us have skied before and I've never seen snow so I'm really looking forward to it! We've been told skiing is a lot like skating so hopefully we'll pick it up quickly and not break any bones, LOL. I've broken my leg before (roller derby) so I'm not keen on breaking anything ever again :P While I'm out of the country, my online stores will be on vacation mode. This will occur from the 22nd August to the 9th September. It's going to be difficult not to make soap for that long but I'm sure the sights of NZ will keep me occupied. The plan is to keep you all up to date with photos and info about all of the fun stuff we get up to but we'll see, drinking wine by the fire might distract me a little, tehehe.
