Animal Refuge Kansai

In light of the terrible devastation in Japan, I've decided to donate part of the proceeds from my February sales to Animal Refuge Kansai (ARK) instead of the Premier's Flood Appeal as I had mentioned initially.

After seeing pictures and video of the tireless efforts of animal agencies in the stricken areas of Japan, I think the money is best off over there.

"ARK will accept as many animals as possible, those made homeless from the TOHOKU-PACIFIC earthquake and tsunami which occurred on 11th March. Any donations will be used for the animals made homeless in this terrible disaster. "

And the winner of the competition is - Jodie Clarke

Jodie you have won the prize!

Thank you to everyone that entered and shared in the birthday celebrations <3

Something terribly exciting is happening in Brisbane, Australia tomorrow night!

I'm a big roller derby fan so I was eager to help out the Brisbane City Rollers with a donation for their fundraiser tomorrow night. BCR's main training venue was inundated during the Queensland Floods earlier this year and it's going to take a long time to rebuild.

In typical derby style, they will be rocking the night away with heaps of bands, giveaways, burlesque dancers, you name it!

Here's the press release so you can get the whole scoop:-

It's time to get off the rink and into The Zoo for the Brisbane City Rollers Rock for the Roll fundraiser on Saturday March the 5th 2011. Five Brisbane bands will take to the stage for this epic event including Girl With Cake, The Flangipanis, Ironside, Nuclear Buddha and Sushi Monster. Girl With Cake will also be launching their long-awaited new EP at the event. Rock, punk and indie will be among the musical flavours available ...on the banquet. If that’s not enough, local alternative clothing store Suburban Mayhem will be selling their wares and a raffle will be drawn with prizes from a variety of local merchants including Skate Salvage and Sailor Mouth Soaps. The evening will also see local burlesque performers Claire Star and Sean Hoban sailing on stage with a delicious foray of contemporary and exotic performances. Did you say you wanted more? You'll also be invited to try your luck at arm-wrestling a roller girl!

The best news is that the event is light on the pocket with pre-sale tickets at $9 plus booking fee. If you don’t make it onto
http://www.oztix.com.au/ to get your hands on tickets prior to the evening they’re only $12 on the door which is a steal for such a killer night. Doors open at 8pm.

Rock for the Roll will be the first fundraiser for the Brisbane City Rollers for 2011. The league were without a permanent place to train after the devastation of the QLD floods. The night will also help local independent traders, who are donating their wares for the event, to get them on track and start 2011 with a bang!

8 15 - 8 45 Sushi Monster
9 00 - 9 30 Nuclear Buddha
9 45 - 10 15 Ironside
10 30 - 11 15 Girl With Cake
11 30 - 12 15 The Flangipanis

Proudly sponsored by Skate Salvage -

And the final donation amount is *drumroll please*....

If you're a fan of my Facebook Page you may remember a post I made last month about donating part of the proceeds from my 18th January to the 28th February sales to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. Well the good news is, I've tallied up my sales and am able to donate $50!

Thanks to all of my fantastic customers for your support which has allowed even more money to be donated to a good cause.

The list of charities that I make regular contributions to also includes:-

World Society for the Protection of Animals

Animals Australia Unleashed

RSPCA QLD

Australian Orangutan Project

Thanks again!
