Australians for Cruelty Free Cosmetics

Image
Hello friends, Now for a topic that is close to my heart (and I know a lot of my customers and fellow crafters hearts) ....banning animal testing! http://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/australians-for-cruelty-free-cosmetics The petition is a joint venture from three of the (amazing) major groups in Australia, who tirelessly work towards bringing Australia into a more ethical, caring and compassionate present and future. This petition is being sent to the Australian Minister for Health and Ageing See below for more information on each group. I will also point out that I'm a financial member of all of these groups! I strongly encourage you to sign this petition. In my experience, I have found even those that choose to eat meat and animal products, who are not vegetarian or vegan, are still morally outraged by the unnecessary and pointless horror of animal testing in cosmetics. Choose Cruelty Free (CCF) is an independent, non-profit organisation which acti...

Charitable causes

You've probably noticed that I have a real soft spot for animals. It's no secret that I'm passionate about protecting animals and because I feel so strongly, I make it a part of my business as well. Last year  Saffron on the Hill Inc  ( Not-for-profit organisation that rescues, rehabilitates and  rehomes dogs, including quite a few Pugs!) used some of my Pug Soaps at a charity auction to fundraise for vet bills and I just received this wonderful email to let me know how it went:- Hi Thank you again, letting you know that your item and contributions enabled Saffron on the Hill to pay for almost a full surgery for Bob, and large contribution to Daisy's surgery. Thank you for your wonderful products. Kindest regards Karen McVeigh Yaaaaaaaaaay! That makes me so happy. I absolutely love to hear back and find out how everything went. There's a few other animal rescue groups I've worked with or donated to, including:- Siberian Husky Rescue Inc. ...

Making the move to Palm Oil Free

Image
Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on the Palm Oil situation. As you might remember reading in my last post, I had finally (after literally years of searching) found a Palm Oil free soap base I can use for my products. The good news is, it's passed my tests, meets my cruelty free and vegan criteria and I'm bringing it into production. Can I get a hurrah? Hurrah! I've already begun integrating it into my soaps but please allow me some time to update labels and go through what stock I already have. If you want to have your order made with the new Palm Oil Free base especially before it is all that is available, just let me know and I can accommodate you :) I have future plans for another line of products that will most likely include RSPO Certified Palm Oil. So why would I add Palm Oil back into the range after taking it out? Well with me being the ingredient nerd that I am, I've done a lot of research (surprise, surprise!) and I feel that the best wa...

Palm Oil, Veganism and Soap. A ramble about ethics.

If you follow me on  Facebook  you might have seen the little post asking whether you would be prepared to pay a little bit more for Palm Oil Free & Organic products. I should probably explain. I would consider myself to be a very ethical person. I have been living (and loving) the hell out of my Vegan and totally cruelty free lifestyle for many years now. When I say that my products are "Vegan & Cruelty Free", you can bet your bottom dollar that it's not just an incidental fact or marketing hype, my business has been built from the ground up with those principals in mind. Being certified with  Choose Cruelty Free  and  PETA  is proof that I not only stand by these convictions but am willing to sign legal documents to state how my business sources the ingredients and have accountability for my purchases. It's worth pointing out that running a business with so many considerations is not without its complications. Many, many times I have come acros...
